We will ask you to tell us what repairs you may have done, etc. We will then go back to our office and do lots of research. We will compare your home with other houses that are on the market or have recently sold. This research will give us the basis for the current value estimate of your home.
Once we have the estimate of the current value of your home, we will come back to your house for a second visit so that we can share the results of our research. We will also let you know if we think there is any preparation work that needs to be done to the house before it would go on the market to be sold. Together we come to an agreement on the asking price for the house. If there is work that needs to be done, we will let you know whether that work needs to be done before the house can go on the market or whether we can get started right away by listing the house. Sometimes, we recommend that you simply offer an “allowance” of money to the home buyer so that they can do some decorating or replace carpet, etc. If we think that is the best option, we will tell you that also and we will explain exactly how to do that.
