Social Security seems destined for a zero cost of living increase again this year.
According to an article in the New York Times “Senior citizens who depend on Social Security may go a second year without a raise. It would be just the second year without an increase since 1975, when Congress first adopted cost of living adjustments (COLA).The bad news is expected to be made official Friday, when the Bureau of Labor Statistics releases inflation estimates for September, The Associated Press reported yesterday. Raises are based on the Consumer Price Index and not set by Congress.” If this news causes you the need to reconsider your Kalamazoo housing options, or if you would like to have a free home market analysis to understand the value of your Kalamazoo real estate, the Veenstra Team is happy to provide you free real estate consultations.
