Kalamazoo MI – Check out the article “Kalamazoo invests again in learning” published By The Center for Michigan on June 16, 2011
Kalamazoo added to its reputation for being an innovator on education and youth issues in June of 2011 when an $11 million initiative to advance learning, literacy and development from birth through college was announced.
This money will fund a new Learning Network of Greater Kalamazoo which “will address five areas of need in the community: Basic literacy, college readiness and higher education, health and wellness, urban vitality and economic development,” according to a report by the Kalamazoo Gazette. The W.K. Kellogg Foundation and the Kalamazoo Community Foundation are the main funding partners of this new Kalamazoo learning network.
