Kalamazoo MI, If you are moving to Kalamazoo, you will hear people talking about the Tornado of 1980. The Tornado moved right through the downtown area and caused major damage in the Westwood neighborhood on the west side of the city.
THe video above is the original videotape of tornado that ravaged Kalamazoo, Michigan. This was the second of two tornadoes that day, of which claimed five lives, injured 79, and caused nearly 50 million dollars worth of property damage in Kalamazoo County, Michigan.
Amazingly, this video is the first amateur color VHS video recording of a killer tornado in the United States using a RCA color video camera and attendant recorder. Thankfully the recorder was not injured!
